Rotary is a service oriented organization of business men and women. Rotary International has over 30,000 clubs world wide and is now the largest private non-profit organization in the world.
The Rotary Club of Walnut Creek is one of those clubs and is dedicated to service in the world, our country and our community of Walnut Creek.
The club raises funds in support of its programs from its members and through several community fundraisers, such as our annual crab feed. There are also social activities throughout the year for Rotarians and their families.
The club has a sister club relationship with the Rotary Club of Tokyo-Kohoku in Japan and every year we exchange students for a brief summer visit. Many upstanding youths of the Walnut Creek community have participated in this adventure. It is the longest running club to club program in Rotary
On the international level we support such projects as
The initiative to eradicate Polio
Water projects in various countries
Wheel chair programs
We support community activities such as
The Rotacare free clinic in Concord
Fishing in the city which teaches middle school students the fundamentals of fishing and allows them to test their skills in the city park
Challenge Day at Northgate High School
Heritage Day at Borges Ranch (a city historical park)
The club sponsors high school students for Camp Royal and Camp Venture; summer leadership training camps for high school students
A Meals on Wheels route bringing hot meals to needy seniors
The Monument Crisis Center which provides a number of services to needy families.
Financial support is also made to a variety of organizations including Diablo Assistance League, ARF animal shelter, Lesher Center, the Boy Scouts and many others.
